《美国总统演讲名篇赏析》秉承"阅读中外经典，通识人类文化"的大学通识教育指导思想，以的美国演讲修辞网中选出的Top100 Speeches和《美国总统就职演说精选》(王建华，江西人民出版社，2008)等资料为基本依据，并参考笔者对美国总统演讲的阅读、研究与教学经验，精选美国总统演讲16篇(其中就职演讲10篇，就重大问题发表的其他演讲6篇)。把文学(总统演讲)与修辞赏析和美国历史、文化知识的系统介绍有机结合起来，顺应了大学英语教学改革的新要求，有其独到的特色。
徐中川，华东师范大学外语学院英语语言文学硕士，现为中国海洋大学外国语学院讲师。多年来一直从事大学英语教学和英语词汇记忆、测试及翻译研究。近年来主编、独立编著或翻译，并由中国水利水电出版社、上海科技出版社、青岛出版社等出版的英语书籍共十余种，总字数超过660万字，主要有：《10000英语高频词汇分级突破》(主编)，《考研英语词汇分级+立体记忆法》(及时作者)，《葡萄酒百科全书》(合译)等。
